Jonathan Duhamel Wins 2010 WSOP Main Event

23  year  old  French  Canadian  poker  pro Jonathan Duhamel won the 2010 WSOP Main Event title at The RIO in Las Vegas on Monday November 8th.

Jonathan Duhamel is an online poker pro from Boucherville Quebec, near Montreal Canada. He became an online poker pro after dropping out of college where he was taking finance classes. He is now the first Canadian citizen to ever win the WSOP Main Event. His total prize was worth a whopping $8,944,310 and of course the coveted WSOP Main Event bracelet.

Duhamel began the Main Event final table with a 3:2 chip lead over John Dolan with 65,975,000 in chips. Duhamel actually lost this chip lead at one point but regained it after Joseph Cheong six bet shoved with Ace 7 offsuit into Duhamel's pocket queens which held up. That pot was actually the biggest pot in WSOP history.

The final table finally went heads up with Duhamel facing Floridian John Racener. Duhamel went in with an enormous 6:1 chip lead over Racener but Racener did manage to double up once during the 40 some hands of heads up play. Eventually Racener got short and called an all in with King Eight of Diamonds against Duhamels Ace Jack offsuit. Ace high was good enough to take down the pot and The WSOP Main Event.

Here's how the 2010 November Nine finished up:

1st - Jonathan Duhamel $8,944,310

2nd - John Racener $5,545,955

3rd - Joseph Cheong $4,130,049

4th - Filippo Candio $3,092,545

5th - Michael Mizrachi $2,332,992

7th - Jason Senti $1,356,720

8th - Matthew Jarvis $1,045,743

ESPN plans to air the final table footage on Tuesday November 9th
